Paris 2025: a wider conversation about AI.

The AI Action Summit connects research ambition, infrastructure and public purpose.

Paris, February 2025

The AI Action Summit brought its principal international gathering to Paris on 10–11 February 2025, within a wider week of scientific, cultural and business events. France and India co-chaired the summit. Official materials framed the discussion around science, solutions and the public interest.

That broad framing highlights an important connection: intelligence develops within an ecosystem of people, institutions and resources, not only inside a model.

An ecosystem needs several kinds of expertise

A research team may focus on a new capability. A company needs to understand whether that capability can support a viable service. An educator may ask who can access it and what knowledge is needed to use it well.

These questions connect, but they are not interchangeable. We think an effective collaboration makes room for each perspective before agreeing on a shared objective. A useful first document would describe the intended outcome, the people affected and the resources required to test the idea.

Make ambition concrete

One practical way to approach a broad AI programme is to separate aspirations from commitments. An aspiration describes the change a project hopes to enable. A commitment identifies an action, an owner and a way to inspect progress.

For an illustrative educational project, that might mean defining a small learning task, involving teachers in evaluation and checking whether the experience is accessible on the equipment learners already have. A grand claim about transformation is less useful than a clear account of what the first experiment will establish.

Why the conversation still matters

From Montpellier, Hypetell looks internationally while remaining interested in the connections that can be made close to home. The Paris summit is a useful historical reference for that combination of local capability and international dialogue.

Our reading is that a wider AI ecosystem becomes more valuable when its participants can translate their different ambitions into concrete, shared questions.
